Principal's Notes

Dear Cram Parents and Guardians:

On behalf of the administration, faculty and staff, I would like to welcome your child to Cram Middle School for the 2009-2010 school year. We hope your family had an enjoyable summer! I certainly had a wonderful summer that was filled with travel, family, and friends. I am glad to be back in session, and I look forward to working positively with our students, parents, and guardians as we progress through the school year, providing only the best educational opportunities for our students.

There has been one change to our administrative team, and that was the retirement of our Dean of Students, Mr. Jaime Scott. Mr. Scott will be missed on our campus, and we wish him all the best as he embarks upon the next journey of his life. I would like to announce and welcome Ms. Sharon Newman as the newest member of our administrative team. Ms. Newman fills the vacancy left by Mr. Scott.  Ms. Newman comes to Cram Middle School from Lied Middle School. Ms. Newman has worked very successfully as a Dean of Students for the past two years and is a welcome addition to our team here at Cram Middle School.

While I do not wish to focus on the negative, I do need to inform you that our school did not make Adequate Yearly Progress according to the No Child Left Behind law for the 2008-2009 school year. What I am proud to say is that we now have more proficient students at Cram Middle School than at any other time in the history of our school. Our teachers have moved close to 80% of our students into either meeting standards or exceeding standards, but because we did not show a 10% reduction in the amount of non-proficient students in one subgroup we did not quite reach the anticipated goal. Rest assured that our teachers, support staff, and administrative team are all working extremely hard to do whatever is necessary to teach our students what they need to know in order to become proficient, productive members of our community.

Again, I would like to welcome you to Cram Middle School and to the 2009-2010 school year. I am extremely excited to see how far ahead we are going to move our students this year. If at any time should you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact me personally or a member of my administrative team. We are eager to assist you and make the 2009-2010 school year a positive one for your child.
